Charter Year: 1974

In 1974, John Jeremiah Hinkle sent letters to members of the National Muzzleloader Rifle Association in the area regarding starting a new local club.  Responding members met in the fall of 1974.  Among those founding members were Dick Williams, Duck DeHart, Barry "Redeye" Phlegar, Ruper Waltz, "Tex" Ritter, Paul "Red Dog" Arnold, Wayne "Tye River" Lawhorn, Ballard Phlegar, and Pat Hallahan.  During the course of the meeting, it was decided to indeed form a new club, and to adopt the name "The Big Lick Longrifles".  The name had been associated with a shooting club in the 1940's or 50's, but the earlier club, and name, had been abandoned.  Hence, The Big Lick Longrifles was once again created, and is still around today.
